2013 Workshop
2013 NZGW/IAGS Conference
The 2013 IAGS Symposium incorporated the 35th New Zealand Geothermal Workshop (NZGW) and was held in Rotorua in November 2013 and was very successful with over 525 delegates from 33 countries attending.
The joint meeting provided extra focus on applied geochemistry, new ways of analysis, interpretation of data and geochemistry applied to environmentally sustainable mineral and geothermal exploration and development, as well as the usual geothermal science and engineering topics. The symposium sought to encourage and influence future cutting edge geochemical research, geothermal research, sustainable resource development and environmental management.
The NZGW keynote speakers included Stefan Finsterle, Bridget Ayling, Hagen Hole, Patrick Browne and Ed Lohrenz. They were accompanied by 100 technical presentations. Each presentation is supported with a full length peer reviewed paper, of which five people were awarded industry funded prizes for excellence.
We are very grateful to all of our sponsors in particular Mighty River Power for their continued high level of support towards this workshop. We would also like to recognize contributions from Iceland Drilling, the New Zelaand Geothermal Association, and Geothermal New Zealand. Last but not least, we appreciate our industry partners who provided prizes for papers; NZGA, Contact Energy, Hot Rock, MB Century and Geothermal New Zealand.
